Sarah Burkart, Center Scientist, is heading a pilot project with the goal of teaching parents how to implement and improve sleep routines for their preschool- and elementary school-aged children.
Burkart’s intervention is aiming to give parents infographics, short videos, and ideas for activities to add to their routine, with an emphasis on self-pacing. With parents’ busy schedules, thing like Zoom calls and face-to-face meetings can be difficult to attend on a regular basis. Burkart is instead focusing on giving the information through a texting-based method. This way, the intervention can easily fit within established family routines. The project starts in spring and will be expanded to include more schools in fall of 2024.
